this is actually a really good card. There are green creatures that cost 1FF for 3/3, or red ones with 2RR for 3/3... and both are vanilla.

This is awesome. Me likey

First thing that came to my mind is Ashnod's Altar. Sacrifice this and you get 5 mana.

I like this art more then the Mirrodin art. But the card is amazing.

This card was not as good when mana burn was still an issue. Now it's pretty awesome.

this guy has always been great. urza's saga was way more flavorful than mirrodin.... especially with the artwork. plus, with the new rules against mana burn, this guy doesn't really have any drawbacks. love it love it love it.

Damn. The art here is fantastic! That flash of light is almost truly blinding!

I also find the classic frames to be more pleasing. They generally feel more like a window into a fantasy setting than a not-eye-catching border on a commercial piece of cardboard.

Made a deck involving this, Thran Turbine, Magistrate's Scepter, Voltaic Key, and a bunch of land-untapping blue cards like Great Whale. Henry G. Higgenbotham's art was one of the main motivators for creating something so horribly unwieldy, but destroyed entire tablefuls of players once that magic infinite turn combo clicked.

When this was first printed, the mana was meant to be a drawback (due to mana burn.) Now it's a bit overpowered.
