When this resolves it's usually game over. Absolutely crazy for multiplayer, but I wouldn't play it in a duel.

Why not play it in a duel? I really could have used this earlier when a friend of mine was using an insane elf deck that made creatures with insane power levels.

Whether in multiplayer or a duel if you can successfully cast this somebody is going to die.

One of the best examples of a "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" card. That's about the only thing you can say when it resolves.

Can you use this card on untapped creatures?
Do other untapped creatures gain the effects of this spell? Also can you tap tapped creatures using the sleep card? Even though both cards say "those creatures", does that mean every creature the player controls on the battle field at that time? Any info would be greatly appreciated. We have had arguments about this for a few hours now.lol.

@remingtonfacelift

you get all creatures

all creatures untap

your creatures have haste

that is how it goes, if they just came in, they get haste so it is ok, or were tapped/came into play tapped they untap

I would love this in a big multiplayer game, where tokens were the norm, first I would have to play scilence so they couldnt fog you out on the swing and your epic win didnt fail

Its funny that for 1 mana, fog or holy day can almost entirely shut down this card.

Ok My brother and I are having an issue with the interpretation of this card. He used this card to finish off my friend and I in one fell swoop and I declared fool play on his ruling and it has turned ugly. OK his interpretation is that it Untaps ALL tapped creatures (which there was none) then takes control of all creatures and gives them haste so he can use them ALL for a coup-de-gra manuver. What I read in the card was this... Untap all creatures and gain control of THEM until end of turn, meaning you gain control of the untapped creatures being that they are the focus of the cards power not every creature on the battlefield. Break this down into steps 1: Untap all Creatures (untap those that were tapped) 2: Gain control of those (them---from the card) that became untapped 3:Give them haste and voila end game If his interpretation was right the wording needs to be changed to "Untap all creatures, Gain control of all Creatures and give them Haste until end of turn" makes a world of difference

You gain control of ALL creatures on the battlefield (unless something specifically prevents it) and if there are any that ARE tapped you untap them. All creatures gain haste and you can attack with them. This card doesnt seem to target anything, you simply gain control of every creature in play and can attack with them.

Card Text:
Untap all creatures and gain control of them until end of turn. They gain haste until end of turn.

@Whraithe: You gain control of ALL creatures in play, since you can still untap an untapped creature as long as it's not to pay for some ability with the untap symbol in its cost. (The same is also true for tapping)

It doesn't say gain control of all tapped creatures. It says all creatures.
Nuff said.

Freakishly evil.
I eagerly await the day it shows up as a Planeswalker ultimate.

@Whraithe: Last time I checked, permanents didn't need to be tapped for an effect that untaps them to work. See rulings on Garruk. They don't become "doubly untapped" but they're still affected.

This card could only get more disgustingly fun to play if you somehow Titanic Ultimatum'd after you played this. Will not see play outside of casual or limited, but still a fun game-ender.

Just think of it like destroy effects vs indestructible. They can still target them, they are legal targets upon resolution, it resolves fine, it just doesn't do anything.
The same goes for untapped, granting haste, and gaining control. Except that it effects everything (since it doesn't target).

So if your opponent had a Stoic Angel out, the untap effect is limited to 1 (or 0 if you already did one that turn). But the rest still tries to happen.

I agree with the person who says you only gain control of creatures that were tapped when you play the card. Read the card. That's what is says. "Untap all creatures and gain control of THEM...meaning the creatures that were tapped.

Has WOTC issued some statement somewhere in the FAQ about how this card actually works?

10/4/2004 You untap all creatures, control all creatures, and give all creatures Haste.

Tis the ruling. If you don't like it, tough!! >:-)3

Oracle says "You untap all creatures, control all creatures, and give all creatures Haste."

The card says that too. It's haters that try to add new words like "the ones that were untapped". "Them" refers to "all creatures". It can't refer to "untap" because "untap" is a verb. To make your poor use of grammar more obvious, you're trying to say "Gain control of untap all creatures". No. That makes no sense.

@landboysteve and Whraithe
That is true if it said 'untap ALL TAPPED CREATURES'.
The card however says 'UNTAP ALL CREATURES.'
When the card says 'them' or 'they' it is talking about the subject 'ALL CREATURES'
I don't see how you guys are interpreting this differently.

I LOVE this card for it's whup-your-rear ability, but everytime I play it, there's an argument about it that usually ends with with the group ganging up on me and voting to ignore that card because it's a 'grey area' that can't be figured out.

I read the card as "untap (if they were untapped) and GAIN CONTROL of ALL CREATURES". They gain haste til end of turn. But my play group reads it as "UNTAP and gain control of all creature (meaning only gain control of creatures that were tapped)" But if that were the case, then creatures like Cloudchaser Eagle can't be played if there are NO enchantments in play.

I think the only reason some people try to argue against the card is because they have been on the recieveing end of it and desperatly want the rules to be on there side and shoot the card down. Sad.

Why is everone getting so bent out of shape over a request for clarification? I can see how people "could" mis-read this card. All of you non-noobs, "give of your wisdom, share your knowledge, not your attitude. you were all noobs once."

I always thought the function of this is obvious too, although I kind of see where people are coming from. Perhaps a better wording would have been "Gain control of all creatures and untap them. They gain haste until end of turn."
