Better than an Angel of Mercy. But then agian, what isn't?

Targeting this card with a kicked Rite of Replication did great things for me in the pre release tourny :)

I had a rules question:
If I control the enchantment Levitation and an Archon of Redemption, will the Archon's ability trigger for each other creature I play?

Yep, that should work mrhibbons. On the other hand levitation is not a really great card, nor is this archon. So it's an interesting idea but not really worth it. If you really want to play this dude I'd just add another strong flyer instead of the levitation.
All in all I wouldn't play this guy though. In times of baneslayer a 3/4 for 5 ain't good enough. I'd even play serra angel over the archon, for the additional power and vigilance. 1.5/5

For the same power and toughness, I would consider Guardian Seraph. Unfortunately, with the creation of Baneslayer Angel, every white will be scrutinized.
Not that bad actually, but at this cost, he is doomed to obscurity in the shadow of Baneslayer Angel
Though those crappy Felidar Sovereign decks I see at FNM might play this over Baneslayer or to supplement it if they can't afford a whole playset.

It seems like every flyer that white has now sucks compared to the overpriced Baneslayer. Too bad a lot of good white flyers get lousy ratings because of that freakin' card.

Hehehe, maybe I'm the only Johnny that has really looked at this, but this is actually an insanely good card that can cause of a lot of amazing card combos and deck synergy. This along with Guardian Seraph has inspired some really fun decks for me.
If you kicked Rite of Replication making five copies of this card you would gain a total of 150 life
You would gain 30 life from the original copy on the field because all of the copies trigger both his first and second effect. Each copy is named Archon of Redemption and is another creature with flying thus, you gain life equal to the copy's power twice. because there are five of the copies you would gain 6x5 life for a total of 30.
Then, for each copy on the field, this same effect is triggered, excluding the original Archon. each copy gives you 24 life because each other copy is worth 6 life. because there are five copies total, and they each proffer 24 life, you gain 24x5 which is 120
Added to the original's 30 you would gain a total of 150 life.

This Creature would work wonders with a fully charged Luminarch Ascension...

After play testing this card, its actually surprisingly good. If it read something more like "all flying creatures that enter play gain lifelink" everyone would be like omg, but that is just about the effect it has. It triggers on itself initially and then continues to gain life every turn there after you can put something into play. I regained 25 life from being down to 5 against a living end deck using this card over a couple turns. The closest thing to that would be divinity of pride at 4/4 and lifelink, but the archon is arguably easier to cast since it only takes two white and anything. So far I think this card is being under rated. It has great synnergy with emeria angel, pride of the clouds, kira glass spinner, sphinx of jwar isle, and even the new goliath sphinx (although why would you want to play goliath sphinx I have no idea, draft maybe?)
Is it the best flyer for white? No, probably not, and its no baneslayer.
Is it still a very good 5 mana drop that gains you a lot of life when its played, defintley.
4/5.

Sorry it doesn't work that way. When it ever an ability says "When CARDNAME enters the battlefield" CARDNAME will always be referring to itself and not another creature with the same name.
This is how a kicked Rite of Replication goes: First casting Archon of Redemption gives you 3 life since it counts itself. Then hopefully next turn (unless you have access to 14 mana. You cast a kicked Rite of Replication targeting Archon of Redemption which gives you 5 copies of the Archon. Then all abilities are put into the stack. You gain 3 life (Archon's Power) times 6 (Number of Archon's) which is 18 for each Archon that entered the battlefield this turn (5 copies) This mean you gain 18 life per copy of Archon which came into play with rite (5) This would gain you a total of 90 life not 150 not counting the 3 life from the original Archon of Redemption.
At this point you'd have a really big grin on your face especially if you have a Felidar Sovereign in play.

This card has worked fairly well for me in a Geist of Saint Traft EDH deck. I certainly don't mind gaining a reliable four life each turn alongside the life I gain from the other fliers I play.

Emrakul for +15 life literally adds insult to injury.
It's funny with Wonder in the bin, making Phyrexian Dreadnought the most cost-efficient lifegain sorcery the world will ever see. That's mostly good for the laughs, though.

It can't just be thrown into any white deck, since there is a lot of good competition for the 5 mana slot. Gaining a few life is not worth the relatively lax power of this creature. Guardian Seraph will outperform this most of the time.
You can build W/R attrition decks that like this though. You will only take a net 2 damage when casting this through a manabarbs, and the second one would net you a life. And you will gain a net 1 life in any turn in which there is only one spiteful vissions out. When all the players are racing the clock, getting an evasive attacker and good blocker that cushions your life can be the winning card.
If you can get out a flickerwisp, and then play a second and have them endlessly cycle each other, then you could gain 3 life at the end of everyone's turn, but even that it kinda lame.

Even in a life gain deck, I might be better off using Wall of Reverence or Exalted Angel.
Though those crappy Felidar Sovereign decks I see at FNM might play this over Baneslayer or to supplement it if they can't afford a whole playset.
Sure it isn't a Baneslayer Angel, but this coupled with things like Goliath Sphinx and Cradle of Vitality? How about Wall of Reverence for all you non-believers? Now, what do you think?
