Very powerful, flexible removal...but pricey. Now replaced by things like Maelstrom Pulse.

Mono green isn't supposed to have a direct kill spell.

Still useful, since it can destroy lands. Expensive, though. Imprint on Panoptic Mirror to clear the opponent's field of any non-shrouded non-indestructible card every turn.

Weird to have such direct removal in green, somewhat excusable because of its cmc I suppouse.
Not the best removal out there, but if your playing mono green and you need to have an answer for any permenant I suppouse this could work. Just make sure your using greens mana exceleration to its fullest if you hope to play this when you need it.

elf deck.. makes for great spot removal. Ironically improved with the introduction of planeswalkers.

Obviously outclassed by Vindicate in general, but being able to have removal in a monogreen deck is worth a lot.

Seeing as (this printing) is only available in Magic Online, you don't have to worry about destroyed pieces of cardboard.

As written, this destroys the card.

Play this with R&D's Secret Lair and start ripping your opponent's deck into pieces.

If you're an ass.

It would also get around shroud, since it's "any card in play" - not targeted!

Temporal sundering might not kill a Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker , but a swirling mass of wind sure will!

This + R&D's Secret Lair + my Zippo = lots of carnage.

@scumbling1: Ripping a card to pieces is a way of destroying it, so in reality, if you want to, you could also crush, burn, impale or otherwise completely ruin your opponents' cards instead of ripping it to shreds.
Still, by tearing a card in pieces you are still destroying it, so the game doesn't really distinguish between the two of them except for the way you have to destroy the card.

Rather expensive, but the fact that green usually doesn't get creature destruction is this card's saving grace.

Acidic Slime is somehow similar to this. . .

A storming desert, with a Taliban insurgent and child running for cover, equals ultimate removal in a color supported by forests?! Awesome.

Wonderful for monogreen EDH.

And then Beast Within.

Yeah, yeah, Green's not supposed to be good at anything other than fat, ugly tramplers with ridiculously low casting costs and annoying 1/1 critters cluttering up the table.

But seriously, Desert Twister should cost 3GG, then it would be just right. Green has been able to clear artifacts, enchantments, and lands each for 2G or less, since the earliest days of Magic. Adding creatures to the kill list demands a somewhat more expensive cost, since one of Green's weaknesses... hah, I mean, one of the weaknesses Green is SUPPOSED to have, is getting rid of creatures easily.

3GG!! Sorcery!! Destroys any permanent in play!! Yeah boy!!!

Its in a color with strong ramping. 4GreenGreen is a piece of cake to pull off in green. I wouldnt mind running 3 of these puppy's in my green deck.

This got quite a bit better with the introduction of planeswalkers. Though it was already pretty awesome. 4GreenGreen is nothing for green, and green needs answers to certain things. Though Beast Within is usually the better option nowadays, this still deserves to be remembered, and has it's place in certain ramp decks.

When played as printed, does not destroy tokens. :(

Follow littlebeast's idea with calling a judge over and saying that your opponent's deck is illegal due to containing fewer than 60 cards.

Result: The ultimate un-set magic dick move.

Oracle text makes this not as powerful in modern play... "Destroy target permanent."

Vindicate, are you feeling well? You look a little green...
@DrJack
Don't you be hating on green now. Green is easily my second favorite color.
