Eh...I'd rather run Hypnotic Specter over this. It's still in Lightning Bolt range, so the 1 extra mana for 1 more toughness doesn't really seem worth it IMO.

This might have had some usefulness over Hypnotic Specter when Lightning Bolt was out of print and Shock was the standard burn spell, but definitely not anymore

It's way worth than hippie. They don't have to discard at random, which is a BIG difference, and it's more mana. And all that for 1 toughness? No thanks.

Does survive Burst Lightning if its not kicked, but thats about it. Hypnotic Specter is probably the better choice.
I do not get why it is in "Demonic" deck though, Specter sounds more like undead rather than demonic subtype.

I think it's in the demonic deck because specters are evil spirits, and it appears to be ridden by a demon. Unless the demon is the specter.

Definitely, absolutely not a great card, but in a specter deck deck where you use the better ones, this can be fun to have as well. Obviously, I am talking very casual deck, if you opponent is also playing a very casual deck. For example, you build two decks so you can introduce a new player to Magic. That could be a fun card to put in.

Needle Specter, Guul Draz Specter and Simian Specter are better to this one, ability and rarity tells it...but i say its toughness makes it quite good. Hypnotic Specter is the best specter all time.(period. no argument)
Not really as bad as everyone says it is. A 4-drop 2/3 flying for black is pretty uncommon (hence the rarity, I suppose) and the discard ability is an added bonus. There are obviously better Specters out there for the same cost, but this is by far the easiest Specter to find (and the cheapest for those on a budget). 3.5/5
