The first ability is a joke. The second one, however, seems nice. Very nice. 4/5

I plan to play a vampire deck, and i thought all was well until this reared its ugly head. Meh, plenty of splashable artifact removal/pithing needle to answer this.

Could still see play in limited. It's basically a Moonglove Extract with different timing.

Strictly better than pyrite spellbomb. But then, basicly everything is strictly better than pyrite spellbomb.
I like the flavor.

Sideboard this into a mono-red burn deck to get around X/2's with Protection from Red, like Kor Firewalker. But the first ability is not bad. Give to Lightwielder Paladin against Vampires.

Hmm... you guys, read the rulings. It can deal damage to Kor Firewalker, but you can't target him if it's equipped to a red creature. Having it as an equipment really limits its usefulness - after all, if you have a different colored creature to equip this on, then you probably have an easier way of dealing with protection without resorting to inefficient artifact damage.

Good only against a vampire deck, otherwise not nearly good enough to put into a deck. Good if coupled with a pumped up nirkana revenant, though.

Awesome flavor, and useful against my friend who loves playing vampire decks.
It's a shame the second ability doesn't do three damage. If it did, it could be chucked at Vampire Nighthawk!

I'd go with Aeolipile. Mana cost is only 1 more. you don't need a creature without summoning sickness to use it. Anyways, I'd play this in limited.

Well, you heard it here first folks. See you next week when we get Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder's take on how he really feels about Derelor.

Tthis is the only burn spell that Trinket Mage can tutor. In the right deck, a tutorable burn spell (limited as it is,) might still be worth considering. Pyrite Spellbomb trumps it in that area, though.

This is an amazingly designed card! Not only is the flavor awesome, it's also very well-balanced. It's a nice bonus against black decks playing those creatures, and in any other case it's slightly overcosted colorless burn!

Y'know, this kills Kor Firewalker in a RDW deck and it's OK as a pure burn, nothing amazing.

Interesting to note that Skeletons can still block the creature with the torch... perhaps only fleshy Undead need fear the fire? Hmmm...
Cute card. Note a powerhouse, but useful and flavorful.
