Love the card, loved the old flavor text. The new one is ok because it fits in with green and elf flavor, but the old one was awesome and funny.

I was playing in an M10 draft and I had turn one llanowar elves and turn two rampant growth and my opponent had no creatures (mana screwed =p), so on turn 3 I attacked with llanowar elves and played this guy, and suddenly, my opponent was at 12! Heehee an 8/8 llanowar elves. 4.5/5

This with prized unicorn and Kalonian Behemoth makes a invincible team. I am so glad they all come in Natures Fury.

Urza Legacy Flavor Text -- Suddenly, she couldn't see the acorns for the trees. Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Edition Flavor Text -- "Guess where I'm gonna plant this!" Magic 2010 Flavor Text -- May your weapon be no sword forged. May your armor be no metal wrought.
—Elvish saying
The newest flavor text is lackluster and boring compared to one of the funniest flavor texts on a green card.
As a side note, red cards have the highest ratio of funny flavor texts compared to other colors. Look through your collection and you will see what I mean. The other colors tend to take themselves too seriously and when you have goblins in red it is ripe for comedy.

Rare? Nah. Uncommon? Yes.

★☆☆☆☆ (1.3/5.0)(5 votes)
I agree that it should be uncommon.
Putting commons together, and coming up with a better result for less mana should mean NO GOLD FOR YOU.
3xgiant growths = +9/+9 for 3.
If it cost 3 mana, THEN it should be a rare. Or if it also had trample.

Tho using three giant growths makes you lose three cards. This takes only one, thats why its rare

If it were an uncommon it'd be a sorcery, it's an instant thus it's rarity.

My friends hate it whenever I use this.. It just smacks them hard in the face. This card is like virtually like giving a creature 1 second of Chuck Norris..
Me: I attack with my 3/3 watchwolf... Are you gonna block it? Him: No.. Me: Might.. of. Oaks. Him: Omg -_-

It's not just the change in flavor text that's weak- the art is pretty lame too. It's like this card suddenly decided it wanted to be taken seriously. I miss the old art of the psychotic elf gardener charging at me with an uprooted tree.
And back in the day, this was worthy of a rare slot. Just more proof of the power creep, I guess.

My first cards were a bunch of random greens, including a holographic Might of Oaks. Won me many a game.

Hello?? Righteousness can only target a creature that's in the process of blocking. Hence the 2cmc reduction. You can use Might of Oaks on the offensive.
4/5 cause they changed the flavor text.

Urza text is better than both of them, but the core set texts before M10 are juvenile and distinctively not funny, its totally slapstick comedy. Funny red flavor texts are funnily worded or ironic or allusions more like the urza text, "Guess where im gonna plant this!" isnt that interesting at all. I think the elvish saying is wonderful, actually.

I put this in a casual infect deck. Swinging for at least 70% of the opponents life can be described as...satisfying.

Reasons infect and casual don't mix. I'm kinda surprised this isn't more abused in extended.

I was about to mention how good this is with infect but a few other people have already mentioned it.
But this can also be really good with the new Garruck, Cold-Eyed Selkie or Glint-Eye Nephilim for loads of card advantage. This is also usually an auto win if you use it on an un-blocked Cephalid Constable.

This card can make for some amusing but effective tactics.
Me: I'll attack with my 2/2 Nest Invader and my 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn. Opponent: You're attacking with a 0/1? Something's up. Me: Yup. You only have one creature, so you can only block one. Opponent: Okay, I'll block the 2/2. Me: Might of Oaks on the Eldrazi Spawn. You take 7 damage.
Also combos well with any double striker to annihilate pretty much anything.

Makes any creature dangerous, but makes rafiq of the many a one hit kill. On turn 5. And that goes for EDH too if he's your general. Use with finest hour to take out two opponents.
