With the new Aquitect's Will (Spreading Seas), I can see these forming the base of a mediocre limited blue race deck. Keep swinging for 2 while tapping out their most damaging counter attack each turn.

It's all too expensive to qualify as a winning strategy, and islandwalk (aside from river boa, also uncommon) doesn't have any other support from this set. Meh.

Game ender in sealed, weak in constructed due to the high cost of the ability.

The enchantment card Flood is cheaper to use in constructed if you are using this as a tapper for creatures without flying.

Keep in mind that M10 is still legal with the Zendikar set. I've been doing some thinking about "Spreading Seas" in combination with other cards. With another good card like Serpent of the Endless Sea, you can put out a powerful creature that can now attack. Keep in mind that this type of creature's island walk ability, combined with the fact that you've rendered one of your opponents' lands useless to them, in combination with Serpent of the Endless Sea, and Æther Figment, you've got a nice lineup of creatures that are getting more difficult to block. Keep the opponent at bay with a strategy like this while countering their spells to set up enough mana for some devious creatures and combos. Certain cards that may seem sort of filler like can all be combined to make something just plain awful >=

Good card since you don't need to tap, but the cost will mean you can't tap more than a few creatures and even then, restrict the spells you can play in a turn. Still, it has good toughness and so could also double as a good blocker.

the thing i like about this card is that you dont tap the creature to tap the target creature, meaning that you can tap multiple creatures

This with Training Grounds becomes incredible.

This was an allstar in my Standard Merfolk deck, way back in Zen Scars Standard
