Best Seal imo. Seal of Shock is great because you can drop it turn 1 even if you go first and save your lightning bolt to pop a 5 toughness creature for instead of a 3 toughness. Good for planning, great if you wanna run enchantments cause it's early threat that can get rid of a destroy enchantment if they want to do it preemptively so you don't pop their BSA. Very, very solid card.

@Saigmundur: Chandra would be so happy to hear that. She's a dedicated cosplayer.

A flexible firebolt with less zing, still good! Red decks should have a few of these as well.

"I prepared exploding runes this..." oh wait wrong Wizards game. Great for making other players hesitate.
I prefer Pyrite Spellbomb. It's colorless, and can cycle when needed. That does matter.

The seals are great in multiplayer. This one can just hang out daring someone to play a creature or to attack with those that you have let survive. They let you punish people for trying to kill it, or for for doing something mean to you. And of course you have some fiery defense without needing to leave any mana open. If this is on the table for 5 rounds, then you probably got a lot of value out of it sitting there.
There are not a huge number of quality red cards that will survive a Jokulhaups, but this is one of them.

Love the flavor text, loved the card before but this text just made it all the better.

Is Krosan Grip the only way to deal with this when its on the field?

There are actually several things that can take this card out: Celestial Crusader can buff its would-be target without giving it a chance to respond. Stonewood Invocation can also buff its would-be target without giving it a chance to respond. Take Possession can take it and sac it. Wipe Away can bounce it. Word of Seizing can take it and sac it.
Of all of these, Krosan Grip is by far the least to cast, but they all deal with it in one way or another (temporarily or permanently).
That said, it's incredibly difficult to deal with if it hits the battlefield - usually it just goes off on whatever it wants to go off on.
