I took me a while to realize that he is wearing the shield strapped to his back. Cute.

Beautiful art on this card. Not to mention it's a rather decent artifact. Sure, it's not Mage Slayer, but still. For a Bant themed deck, this is a rather nice one. Cheap, and works well with Exalted mechanics or Stoic Angel. Not to mention it makes your creature just that much harder to kill with damage.

No idea why the rating so low, this card is great for building defenses while you take full advantage of the Exalted ability. And as mentioned above, very effective with Stoic Angel.

I've never really looked at this card closely before, but now that I do I realize that the flavor behind it is FANTASTIC.

Traditionally, Bant sigled-caste armor had no rear protection. In the strictly regimented world of Bant exalted combat, no one would be cowardly enough to strike their opponent from behind so there was no need for it. Now that Bant knights are coming into contact with foes from the other 4 shards that don't always play nice, strapping a big-freaking shield to your back is an extremely good idea.

Palace Guard. You never need a Sleep again.

Vigilance has to be my favorite ability, and it combos with the defense boost well. Add on a stunning effect (literally), and you have a card that I quite like.

This is a great equipment, I don't see how it's rated as low as it is. Sure, it's situational, but so are a lot of great cards. This is fairly priced, and makes any creature able to be a very effective blocker even after you attacked with it. And on the off-chance it dies, it's an equipment, so you can use it again.

Its one of the cards that is meh in theory, but truly shines in practice.
My kangee EDH loves it...

Extremely beautiful art. I absolutely love the flavor of Bant (contains my three favorite colors anyway).

Nice equipment for slowing down your opponent's attack.

Underrated. It's inexpensive and it's in colors with creatures that work well with it, white especially.

This kind of equipment on the right creature can make people not want to attack you at all. Someone mentioned Palace Guard. Great call. Have them come over with provoke spells or abilities, like that of Bullwhip. Which is another underrated (on Gatherer, anyway) artifact.

@Zulp: Your pun earns my mixed admiration and a sudden urge to bash you in the head with a shield.

That being said, I think this is probably my favorite of the dual color equip cycle due to it's flavor. None of the others seem to relate much to their shards, at least not as much as this. Why would a behemoth weild a sledge? Why would a dragon weild a sword? Why would a...mecha-sphynx wear a mask?
We know why a knight in this world would wear a shield. Everything has gone to hell, and he needs someone he can trust watching his back.

Gideon Jura and Palace Guard approve!

Gideon makes them attack with everything, Palace Guard blocks everything.

Slap on an Indestructibility and some sort of flight, and you are good to go!
