I would reccomend using a Bonesplitter instead, or just using creatures that have first strike to begin with, such as Tundra Wolves if that's what you're interested in.

Great on Turn 3 with a Wild Nacatl, Plains and Forest

playing this card in limited has won me at least 4 games. throwing it on any creature with power 2 or greater will take out most of the field in this block.

The problem with Rancor + lance is its a card disadvantage. The problem with Asha's Favor is it doesn't add to the creature's power. They both have their places.
For mono-red I'd prefer Claws of Valakut, but in multi-color decks I'd take this anytime. Especially good when you throw it on a Deathtoucher.

Man, Sedris sounds like such a troll in all of his flavor text.

Compare to Slaughter Cry. ... Or don't, if you'd rather not sigh heavily.

I remember playing during the Shards of Alara draft and getting two or three of these along with two or three Goblin Deathraiders. Turn 3: 6/1, trample, first strike in a set with fairly limited removal.
