An unusual take on graveyard removal. But by no means a good card.

Pretty lame how the ability won't activate if he's not tapped. On the other hand, if you can find a card to repeatedly tap him...hmmm...

Not a great card, but awesome flavour, eh?

I had a friend who would always play eater in big multiplayer games. As soon as it hit the table it would eat everything, preventing us from reanimating our good stuff. He would always comment on how it was a summon eater, he loved that card until we found out that it doesn't work. He still used it, but complained that there was nothing "broken" about a five mana three four that removes a creatures from the graveyards.

This is virtually the very first creature with a Untap-ability.
(Although there is a minor difference here since you can activate the Eater's ability as often as you wish without any effect, which is relevant if a card like Burning-Tree Shaman is in play.)

A creature with built in untap is kinda neat I suppose. Would have been really good if he was like a 3/5 or even 3/4. Or maybe if he had an ability like:

BBBB, T: Target player discards a card.

id like to throw a virdian longbow or paradise mantel on him

against decks who usually have a lot of creatures in their graveyard, (eg dredge), you could kill a player with the longbow, or ramp up a huge amount of mana for a consume spirit

I AM THE SUMMON EATER.

Also, uh... Mr. kitsunewarlock... he is a 3/4.

Could be decent removal if you play Brawl and just wail on your opponents' creatures with him for a turn.

Equip this eater with heavy arbalest, and it will be all you can eat buffet in multiplayer.

The artwork is cool. Furry Demons lit from below are much scarier than those lit any other way.

Not bad for its time. Most black creatures of that size would normally have some silly drawback. Too bad there were very few, if any, ways to exploit his ability to untap multiple times per turn back then.

My Necrotic Ooze deck is getting a bit out of control

I don't know about you guys, but pretty much everything I eat tends to be dead. I'm not intimidated by this guy.

So much combo...Ocular Halo looks like a winner, you can munch stuff from your 'yard and replace it (eventually) with the new cards you draw.

How is this NOT a good card? Are you people blind? A 3/4 for 5 isn't great, but with graveyard removal like that, it can't be topped. Seriously under-rated card.

If you put your ear up to his belly and listen closely, you can hear Touch of Gray.

Apparently, the classiest people eat things while they're still living.
