Dangerous because of just how much -1/-1 counters fly in this set. This card can turn against you because the effect isn't optional. In all it's reasonably priced and can be very beneficial if your deck specializes in counter production.

Awesome card in a Wither deck

crumbling ashes + blowfly infestation + anything that has wither or gives -1/-1 counters = creature destruction of epic proportions.

I can't believe this only costs 1B to play...

Combine this with Soul Snuffers, Midnight Banshee, and/or Necroskitter.

Revered Convulsions

Hello Scars of Mirrodin infect strategy and the revival of -1/-1 counters... might be a nice addition to an infect deck.

Scar or more recent Virulent Wound

Holy crap, this card has a rating below 3.5? That's absolutely ridiculous... I mean, it's very specific to some decks, but in infect or wither (where it was admittedly meant for) this thing is absolutely ridiculous. I mean, Soul Snuffers is the most obvious of the uses for this, plus Carnifex Demon for repeated creature destruction. May not be a quick board sweeper, but if you get it out on turn two, it could keep the board pretty empty on your opponents side for a while.

Or, at least long enough to get your Kulrath Knight out.
