This card is amazing in a black/white deck, and lifelink in the current meta is a beast. Just getting a swing off with this guy is worth its while.

He needs some help, but he can be devastating. Overall, nice (almost) fatty for a WB deck.

I like the card, I just don't care for how the art looks so similar to Belligerent Hatchling.

Voracious Hatchling + Edge of Divinity= 7/7 with lifelink. If you then play a deathbringer liege, we're talking 11/11 with lifelink. Yes, the battlefield has to aling nicely for that to occur, but even without deathbringer, a 7/7 with lifelink is pretty darned amazing.

but you forget, jwdaniels, playing Edge of Divinity removes all four of it's -1/-1. You play Edge of Divinity, but WAIT!! IT's both black AND white? So it's now a 9/9 with lifelink. What's that? Deathbringer Liege, you say? THE MADNESS OF IT ALL!! d+w+b HAHA!!

*edit* sorry, i meant to say two edges, not one

I like this card too. IMO, i think this creature looks more like a lion or panther with medusa's snake hairs
Whereas Belligerent Hatchling looks like some dog with worm-like tentacles.

A game winner card from my deck. but it's still vunerable from lightning bolt. =\

I think part of the fun of this card is to play a white or black instant, when your opponents creature blocks, thus making your voracious hatchling bigger and killing the enemy creature without actually using the instant on it. For example, you could attack, have the hatchling blocked by a 2/2, then play a jund charm or naya charm on your enemy to remove a counter making the hatchling 3/3 and still do 3 damage to your opponent with naya charm or add 2 counters to it with the jund charm. Clearly the deathbringer liege is a very good choice here, otherwise there aren't that many white/black, but can probably fit in a proportion of one or the other. Esper charm is a nice white and black instant, but the effects it causes don't directly effect combat. You could still use it to draw cards while simultaneously increasing the power of your hatchling.

I run this in a {(W/B)} deck and in about 2 turns, all the -1/-1 counters are removed.
I essentially pay {4} for a 6/6 with Lifelink!

The hatchlings were a cycle in the Eventide/Shadowmoor block. For each of the 10 combinations (5 allied pairs, 5 opposing pairs), there is 1 hatchling, 1 "demigod," 1 liege, and 1 creature enchantment. Each Hatchling is a 6/6 with an ability distinct to the combination (Trample, First Strike, Lifelink, Wither, etc) that comes into play with 2 -1/-1 counters. They're abilities come full circle when combined with the enchantment. For example, Belligerent Hatchling with the Scourge of the Nobilis becomes an 8/8 with first-strike, lifelink, and flamebreath. After all, a creature with First Strike AND Flamebreath is all you really want from the creature. But, no, you get the flamebreath in white AND red, and you get lifelink as well.

With this case, you put Edge of Divinity, and you have a nice little 9/9 with lifelink. Did you really want anything else?

If you're interested in color combinations, look up some of the hatchlings and their given enchantment, because it'll likely prove useful.

i love haveing him in my black white lifelink deck, edge of divinity definantly helps, but i would usually rather place it on nip guillion so that all my creatures are at least useable. The card is quick enough for early game and grows strong enough for late game, which is how the whole deck runs.

Darn, that is a great card for the Black/White deck I am thinking of creating. Life Link helps me with the Life stuff my deck works on. It's basically a "Remove two -1/-1's every time I play one of my cards" unless it's one of those white control cards. xD

BlackWhite is a great deck type by what I am seeing now.

Lets see... I would think that Lifelink is a 2 Cost. So, a 2/2 Lifelink for 4 isn't to bad... a 2/2 Lifelink with the ability to grow more powerful with every card you cast? Much better then anyone would ever think. The fact that you cannot remove the power gain from this guy? Great!

ONLY downside to this: Proliferate, but that's the same for every hatchling.

Yeah this card is a bomb in my sanguine bond control deck, zealous persecution, tainted sigil, tidehollow sculler and a bunch of lifelinkers ala vampire nighthawk and this deck is good to go. Oh yeah, and unmake really shines here, as if unmake needed a situation to be better.
