If you want, you can most likely get a weakened Volcanic Fallout in an elemental deck. It's pretty solid, but if you have any weaker creatures (and elementals sometimes have weak toughness), you will have spent 3RR on a 3/3.

Plus, if you do use it, the enemies know what creatures you have.

Love this card, I use it in a tribal Elemental deck. It and Vigor get along very well!

And then your opponent played Needle Drop...

Most elementals are too squishy for this to work, especially the Flamekin of Lorwyn.
