I like the idea of the card. A 2/1 that your opponent doesn't want to block until later in the game. Jumping from common to uncommon might have taken a mana off the top, too...

Wow. How could I say anything bad about this card before? It's so rad...

Sounds like something Insanity Wolf might say.

I have this card and played many a casual games with it. Most of the times it is going to be left unblocked unless really late in the game. It is basically a delayed Stone Rain with a 2/1 Goblin body attached with it for 1 more mana. Not that bad, really.
It can be used with stuff like Fling and Goblin Grenade for some added bang.

I found a promo foil autographed Goblin Gardener for 50 cents :p

Goblins is genius, logic completely infallible. And Heartless Summoning turns this into the most efficient land destruction in the game.

Seems fine with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker in edh. Almost strictly worse then Goblin Settler though (which is also $50). Overall, not extremely happy with it, but it's a goblin and gets the job done. They need to make a functional reprint of Goblin Settler some time. This art is way way way better then the 7th edition art imo though. The 7th edition art is just painful to look at.

The ability is a nice form of indirect evasion, overpriced by mana I think when comparing to Phantom Warrior.
