Four mana for a 1/1 guy? Oh wait, and I better have more mana open, so it survives a shock? So like 6 mana, or 7, for a 1/1? No way. Horrible card.

This is one of the more terrible cards I've ever seen. 2 mana for a pumpable 1/1 without any other abilities would have been common worthy. But 4, when good 4 drops are either 3 power with abilities or 4 power without? Absolutely ridiculous. The absolute only time I could consider playing this would be in a deck that provides benefits to creatures that enter play as a 1/1, and even then I'd rather just play a 1 drop without a little pump effect.

I like the option to pay Blue for the shadebreathing ability... and that's about all I like. The cost is way too high on this. I guess R&D didn't want to make it overpowered compared to Frozen Shade or something.
Wouldn't be bad to throw in a U/B Necrotic Ooze deck I suppose, but there are a lot of crappy, crappy cards which are surprisingly good when combined with the Ooze.

People, who would waste a kill spell on a 4 mana 1/1? If they're going to waste removal on this "terrible card," perhaps its not as bad as you think it is.

Yes, in PURE BLACK, Frozen Shade is instantly better, obviously. She's not MEANT to be used in pure-black, now is she? Throw in Blue... new story. Just like every other actually-great card that is a 1-cost more for added color compatibility.

the shade ability is usually very strong, however this one is severely lacking in power. Nantuko Shade is the way to go. 2/5 - its not Saprazzan Raider or Great Wall bad, but it's still pretty terrible.
Also, @ZEvilMustache do you even know what Firebreathing is? firebreathing is +1/+0, this is +1/+1, the shade ability.
