Sure he is, just look at the type: creature - Zombie.

For three mana, the only other card which rivals this gem is Death Baron, as far as zombies are concerned. Not to mention, you've got an unblockable undead army if there's an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in play.

Also, on a 2/3 body, casted turn 0 or 1 off of Dark Ritual, this is an enormous threat IMO.

Many players refer to Prodigal Sorcerer as "Tim" - a nod to the wizard character from Monty Python's Holy Grail movie. In my play group, we refer to the Zombie Master as "Jonathan," a nod to a character from Piers Anthony's "Xanth" series.

According to Oracle, Zombie Master is now a Zombie, and you've got to wonder if his flavor text has anything to do with this change. It never made sense to me that he was "one of them" but didn't get any of the benefits of the other zombie-pumpers.

He's a zombie according to the Oracle but the Oracle also changed his ability into "Other zombies get..." so that kinda limits his usefulness unless you can protect him with something, like Whispersilk Cloak. Otherwise his face is just begging for a lightningbolt.

@Panpl
He's a Zombie, not a Legendary. Just put 2 of him in play.

It says Creature - Lord. Not a zombie.

Types:
Creature — Zombie

Yep, clearly not a Zombie.
I mean, what would the Oracle errata'd text know about anything, right?
Try paying attention before saying stupid things.

he is a lord in this set but a zombie in oracle.

just like goblin king they change the type from lord to goblin and "goblins you control" to "other goblins you control

This card definitely needs to be remade.

There are already so many rule updates that it's pretty much a new card (it almost has enough change to text to require you to keep its real effects on a piece of paper to show others how it's played :/), and i can see this fitting really well into a core set, if not another block.

Doesn't matter what it says, look at the flavor text, HE IS ALREADY A ZOMBIE!!!! Oracle refers to him as a zombie. They also did this with Sanguine Guard and Order of Yawgmoth. I run them in my Zombie deck and know one I play seems to have a problem. It's an old card that needs revision for modern play.

While still being a must have in a zombie deck, he's not the center of it anymore. He's not legendary, so you can put more than one in play. He's Lord of the Undead's and Death baron's natural team mate, since they boost one another. I play Zombie Master (3) with Urgborg (1), some Blanket of Night (3) and cycling cards like Gempalm Polluter and Unearth to make sure the combo comes out effectively. Not omitting to mention the zombie boosters, who are zombies themselves.

This guy draws friend aggro once he hits the battlefield as his friend Evil Presence is not far behind.

There are a lot of people claiming that Evil Presence is a very bad card. Surely they have never met a casual old-style zombie with four of this guys...
