Also looks like the elf on both sides of the time thing is a Lorwyn/ Shadowmoor elf- another bit of Future Sight preview...

you can see him doing a troll-face.
@enchantment removal: lots of those cards aren't expensive or top tier. woolly thoctar is an uncommon, for example!

Do not discount the Split Second on this card. Totally, utterly worth the cost. Especially in EDH :)

But with Memnarch you can knock off 3 or 4 using Training Grounds.

"This card is just mind control that costs 2 more mana for targetting at a permanent and has split second"
Well, uh...yeah? I think 2 mana is worth being able to target planeswalkers, and being immune to responses. If it's not, well then I'm not sure what's worth 2 mana.

Split Second is one of those mechanics that tells you how good a player is...similarly see cards such as Sign in Blood (New player will target opponents for life loss, experienced players will target themselves for card advantage) and Dark Confidant

Mind Control for 5 mana lets you have target creature.
Confiscate for 6 mana lets you have target permanent.
Take Possession for 7 mana lets you have target permanent and it can't be blocked.
To me, one of the most strategic decisions blue players have to make is which one of these three they want to run in a deck. All of them have their uses, and its really difficult to decide on one before you ever see an opponent's deck.

Split second is basically a fancier term meaning "can't counter this, B****!"
That said, this card is awesome. Since it is permament, you can take over artifacts, Enchantments, and even Planeswalkers.
If this had flash, it would be the ultimate possession card, although it is very high priced. It serves as a late game spell, thanks to the cost.

Cast this on your opponents Mindslaver before they can use it. Lols abound.

Usually a player can prevent you from taking one of his permanents by sacrificing it, bouncing it, flickering it, etc. This ensures that you get the card for good.

That little chum in the picture reminds me of Rhys... Nevertheless, it's clear the sight for the future here was to the block after this: Lorwyn-Shadowmoor

Split Second is a good ability, but not as powerful as most think on this particular card.
Take Possession is an enchantment, so while it cannot be responded, once it's in play it can still be destroyed, and most sideboard packs enchantment destroyers.
Split Second means so much more on a sorcery or instant than on a permanent. Confiscate cost 1 less, and in most cases still get the job done.

Hey look, my planeswalker is charged for the ultimate ability.
But I'm just gonna take control of one of your forests instead.
