Interesting card. Her first ability isn't all that great; its just a really expensive Unsummon. Her second ability however is outstanding when you have additional copies of her in hand. It pretty much guarantees that whatever the opponent has cast and planed will be set back at least a few turns.

Linessa comes from the same future as Vedalken Æthermage. A good team.

I have a casual deck built around Linessa that regularly bounces my opponent's entire board. Doing so is incredibly satisfying.

Her first ability, though expensive, is a nice thing to have in a counter psyco deck like mine. Trust me, it's not fun having to hold onto all of your manna and then waste it. This lets you not do that.

If you want to build a deck around her, use Vedalken AEthermage to tutor her. Tortured Existence allows you to return the Linessa copies back to your hand for {B} to maximize utilizing her Grandeur ability (Tortured Existence lets you do so at instant speed as well, effectively making it a mana sink)

I for some reason always believe that my wizards are 1/1! For Blue she is pretty good value for a 3/3 before her abilities are taken into account

Pack Hunt on this is really mean. (Pack Hunt is mean on all of the cards with grandeur but this seems the most crippling, setting your opponent back 3 land drops and up to 3 creatures/enchantments/artifacts

Whatever creature your opponent plays after that, you can bounce back with her first ability. Yay.

Also, Oversold Cemetery + this is a nice soft lock. You play Sakura-Tribe Elder etc. for manafixing anyway. Filling your graveyard with four creatures shouldn't be a problem even if your opponent doesn't 'help'.

Combine this with Library of Leng to get consistent bouncing every turn. With a little bit of draw excel *cough*blue*cough* you can draw up the additional copies and ensure your opponent will be bouncing something every turn after 4.

@Nagazel Library of Leng only affects cards discarded by effects to be put on top of your library. Linessa's Grandeur ability requires you to discard as a cost to activate it (Cost ≠ Effects). So no awesome Leng shenanigans.

I only have one of these, I run it in my casual blue deck, and even without the Grandeur ability she's still a pretty good card. If nothing else, she's a 3/3 for 4, which is about as efficient as most blue creatures get.

I see grandeur being a future mechanic when we return to Kamigawa.

Wow, she's pretty hefty for a squishy wizard. 3/3 for 3Blue? With some amazing abilities? That's...fairly uncommon. I like it.

Even better now that we have Tamiyo. Other Grandeur works with Ms. moonsage token too but Linessa is in color.

Strictly worse than his great-great-granny Alexi.
