Sure, paying four for a 5/5 dinosaur is awesome, but who doesn't play non-basic lands?

My favorite card from Future Sight.

Everyone loves dinosaurs. I hope for the next tribal set to have a tribe of dinosaurs. It would be spectacular.

In a mono-green deck with just a bunch of forests, this card is great and probably the easiest way to get a 5/5 for four mana. In a two-color deck, this card is still worth it, but there are better options such as Emperor Crocodile. With a three-color deck and beyond this card isn't worth it.

Dinosaurs aren't lizards. If you don't believe me, go look it up.

This belongs in a deck that uses Rampant Growth to drop him on turn 3.

Basic lands only, is that the trick to Worldwake?

Beast Hunt has dinosaurs in the art.

Pretty decent, course it was better back in the set it was printed in, now we have spellbreaker. It's 5/5 and it's uncounterable, and you don't need only basic lands. Power creep ftw!

Blargh, why didn't he get put in Naya? This is Sooooo something that Naya would do. Instead they filled with incredibly over costed nothings and decided that the green shard could never be tournament worthy. Here Timmies, have a ball, now go sit in the corner while the big boys do real magic./rant

You really don't need non-basics in a monocolored deck, and if I ever decide to make one of those, he's going right in. It's just a shame that he was cursed with the hideous future sight cardface.

Rules question: If you casted a cascade spell of cmc 5 or higher and got this card, would you be able to cast it, because of its static rules text? Or does the "cast it w/o paying its mana cost" clause overwrite that?

@ DacenOctavio

Yes, you could cascade in to this card and still be able to play it. You are right in assuming that because cascade does not require you to pay for the card that the speific rules for the mana used become irelivant.

The card is pretty great (needz trample!), but what makes it for me is the flavour text. If dinosaurs were around today, as most of us have at some time wished they were, this would be our reaction; sucks for the victims, but DINOSAURS ARE AWESOME

He needs an ability, if he had even the slightest combat ability he would be very useable, as is, he's not living up to the obvious comparison to Blastoderm

If Wizards retconned all the dinosaurs into having the type "Bird Beast" I would love them forever.

The precursor to Myr Superion. I think this card is not nearly as good now.

Even in 2011 this is still a pretty solid 4 drop for green.

Why oh why did they get rid of the Dinosaur creature type? They could have made a whole dinosaur/prehistoric-themed block set on Muraganda (the plane seen on this card and Muraganda Petroglyphs. Maybe they thought that Dinosaur tribal would be too epic, and our minds would all explode from its mere presence.

WotC printed a rare in two colors that was better than an uncommon in one?
Don't worry, I bet that has never happened before, and never will again.

Why is this not a Dinosaur? I have a serious problem with this.

I could imagine a large number of dinosaurs that a far more than just "lizards".
The Archaeopteryx was a dinosaur and couldn't be considered a lizard by any means.

Dinosaurs and lizards aren't the same. Their skin is different; that's a giveaway right off the bat, but the real difference lies in the fact that a dinosaur's strength would be more akin to that of a dragon's.

They are closer to dragons than they are lizards.

I dont mind lizard over dinosaur, as long as they print more lizards with dinosaur artwork.

Now that we have Deadbridge Goliath, a 5/5 for 2GreenGreen without drawbacks, this card is now a dinosaur in more than one sense.

Damn you kids today! Get off my lawn!
