I love the art in this version, way better than the previous ones.

Holy Day . . . Bi*ch. Ha ha, hope the guys at the old store that I used to go to get the joke. For everyone else I don't mean to be offensive, its sorta an inside joke, I guess.

This card is a nuisance when you attack all out to rush and win, but WAIT you do nothing!

Then you're open for a rush of the opponent's own. Then you rush... etc.

Do the changes to damage not going on the stack make this card useless? I honestly don't know

The new art is a noted improvement, but I think I'll miss the ole 2-menora ravager. The flavor of this card is really strange. I just imagine a group of goblins sitting around finalizing some sorta raid when one pipes in "Dude, it's a holiday. We can't raid today. Don't be a jerk."

They ought to print George Washington with the text "Soldiers may deal combat damage as though the Holy Day card had not been played."

@ Saxophonist

No, this card is not rendered useless. Just play it when blockers are done being delcared, right before combat damage is dealt, then when combat damage would be dealt the cards effect will prevent it.

Just as usefull as it always has been.

Good for turbo-fog like decks, but practically useless in all other decks.

Question: I believe the answer is no, but if Furnace of Rath is out, do creatures do combat damage or is it the Furnace doing the damage? If it is, that means Holy Day will do nothing if Furnace is out.

Identical to Fog, but I guess white has enough defense spells as it is.

furnace: If A source would deal damage to a creature or player, IT deals double that damage to that creature or player instead.

-> thus the original sources (creatures...blast spells... w/e) still do the damage, not the furnace

Either those swords are going to fall down and kill them, or they are honoring Wall of Swords.

Usually worse than Ethereal Haze (why not run both?)

They certainly didn't think this through. They're throwing their swords in the air...
I'm surprised I didn't notice that until my friend pointed it out after examining the card when I used it against him.

This thing and its big brother Safe Passage are absolutely brutal, specially if you don't see them coming. Particularly embarassing if you attempt to swing for game, attack with all your creatures, and see the opponent drop this and swing for game next turn while you're defenseless.

@TheWrathOfShane: it's an effect that prevents damage, and you're telling me it's GREEN? What is the color known for an emphasis on defense and prevention? Hell no, it's not goddamn green.

@VoidedNote: no, Furnace of Rath does not get through the effect because it only activates when damage is dealt. Since damage is never dealt, the Furnace never kicks in.

From green, to white... and back to green! I guess they figured white had too much stuff. Just as well, I suppose.

A color shifted version of Fog. Lets you live another turn for only one mana.

Fog always made more sense mechanically and flavorfully in white than it does green. White is in-between blue and green after all, and blue is the most passive color of them all.

@TheWrathofShane & Lord_Ascapelion
You're right. White has too much and shouldn't get everything. Instead of getting creatures as aggressive as red with red p/t ratios, blue counterspells, green mana ramp and artifact removal, black mass-murder and unconditional killing, it should get cards with the effects and abilities best suited to it. Like this one.

But it's not a green effect; it's white. Other flavorful things that give white its identity include: Lifegain, high toughness, damage prevention, protection, lockdown, casting prevention, 'unity' effects, defender, multiblock, loss prevention... yeah, it doesn't have any shortage of things that make it unique.

This effect is green, and im glad its back in green. White does not need to get everything.

@Arachnos.

Tell that to the alpha designers. Fog has been green since MTG
