I wonder how the new Infect mechanic would work with this guy in play. since damage done to a player with infect is done with poison counters and damage to creatures is done with -1/-1 counters. I have three thoughts on this. first thought is that the redirected damage would be dealt to the bodyguard in the form of -1/-1 counters. second thought is that the damage done to the player is actual poison counters so the poison counters would be transferred to the bodyguard since the creature with infect is damaging the player and not damaging the bodyguard, the damage itself is just redirected to the bodyguard. but since their are not actual rules about when a creature has poison counters on it that I know of it would not be effected by them. The third thought would be that the redirected damage would be just that, normal damage to the bodyguard and would not be in the form of a counter at all. unless of course you gave the bodyguard himself infect with and aura or equipment somehow.

In regards to how this interacts with infect, the rules of infect state that "this creature deals damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters and to players in the form of poison counters."
If you were to not block a creature with infect, this creature states that INSTEAD of the unblocked creature dealing damage to you, it deals damage to this creature. It would get -1/-1 counters, because the source dealing damage to it has infect.
