Once upon a time, Craw Wurm was my biggest Magic creature. My first Magic deck was a 5-color, 60-card Revised Starter deck stripped of rares by my uncle who introduced me to the game. It included a Sea Serpent and a Craw Wurm. But Craw Wurm, with no drawbacks, was obviously the better creature. The first time I bought Magic cards on my own, I bought 2 booster packs of Revised and 2 booster packs of The Dark. I remember being ridiculously excited to find my second Craw Wurm in one of those Revised packs (essentially making my deck TWICE as good). Craw Wurm has become iconic to the game of Magic. At 6/4, Craw Wurm was a beastly common. Only Sea Serpent had any chance against the mighty Wurm in combat. Craw Wurm was the reason many beginning players chose to play green. And with cards like Llanowar Elves and Wild Growth, playing Craw Wurm was pretty easy.

Yeah, I remember the days... Now, people pass up Yavimaya Wurms regularly.

Mirroring the comments of other users, yeah, this dude was BIG back in the day. In an era of 2/2's, 3/3's and banding 1/1's, Craw Wurm was there to dish out some serious pain.

Glad to see it got a sentimental upgrade with Yavimaya Wurm so that new players can get psyched about green face smashing.

Needless to say, hideously overcosted by modern standards. Check out Terra Stomper for a mega 6-drop.

Nostalgic 2.5/5

This is the only card that I ever lost in an ante game (leaving me with a 0-1 record in games for ante). It's a shame that old Craw Wurm has aged so badly, but I'll always have a lot of nostalgia wrapped up in this card.
