Basically a 5/5 First Strike creature for 5 mana that every upkeep forces you to turn one of your cards in a 0-mana cost Strafe that can also target red creatures (or Lightning Bolt/Incinerate but can't target the enemy player, same deal) and play it (but you may choose not to target anything) , unless you sacrifice Razormane Masticore. I like that.
It doesn't work exactly that way obviously, but it's a good indication.

Put a Loxdon Warhammer on this thing and it's really annoying, 3 life every turn for a discard, and then 8 if you attack. Plus they have to block with a 5/9 minimum or a creature with 5/X and first strike. It's very bothersome to get rid of without arti-hate.

Draw step for the last ability? Why not just always the upkeep?
But yeah, I love this card, I've always felt like it deserved to be the finisher in those controlling decks over stuff like serra angel.

ah yes, the last ability is in the draw step instead of upkeep so that the defending player has a chance to make you discard a card uselessly as he destroys it before you can deal dmg

Since my first rare was Wakestone Gargoyle, I thought that creatures couldn't attack at all unless you paid the cost while it was on the battlefield.
I did not, however, have to deal with the "draw step". That probably would have made me quit.

You discard a card and deal 3 damage... that sounds an awful lot like Lightning Bolt, one of the best cards in the game. Except this one is free, and coloress.
So you get free Lightning Bolts and a 5/5 first striker for 5 mana IN ANY COLOR?
