A decent combat trick...it's actually effectively costed as well...

Ahh... Back when you could print "Allah" on a card without people branding the game as antichristian. ..... Anyway, this isn't that great. I prefer Glorious Anthem to it.
It's a playable option but, y'know, so are a lot of other things which would do the same job as well or better.

Reprinting this isn't really any different than reprinting Wrath of God. Which they stopped, thankfully. I think it's kind of disrespectful to have real religions in fictional magic.
I miss the days when Middle Eastern culture wasn't a taboo.
@SteetFox, well Wrath of God could easily have referred to any god of any religion. Who's to say Odin or Jupiter or Ameterasu aren't laying down the beats? Beyond that, Allah is literally 'God' in Arabic. Christians and Jews living in the middle east use the word just as much as Muslims. So once again, this is just being faithful to the Arabian theme of the set.

God is great!
Oh yeah, this is pretty outdated card, indeed it is. But I would find it fun to put this in a "Real World Religions" centered deck, including such pearls as Crusade and Wrath of God.

Would "Real World Religions" include Norse mythology? If so, check out the flavor text on the Alpha to 4th Wall of Bone.

Crucifixion- Enchantment, 3W When Crucifixion comes into play, sacrifice a creature. All creatures you control are white and have protection from black.

Hey, I nowadays run Guardians' Pledge effectively in (casual) aggresive white weenie decks because I don't want to spend on a playset of Honor of the Pure. It's a decent boost, and being instant speed helps too.
Regarding slightly polemic flavor, I don't see any problems with it, as I see Islamic or Catholic mythology the same way I see Norse, Greek or other ones widely regarded as fictional. I approve not printing them nowadays, though, since people are retarded and it can bring a lot of trouble for Wizards and to the Magic community in general, and I have a policy of avoiding unnecessary problems.

Should really go in Red, in my opinion.
I like the art, though. It sticks out in today's BIG SPIKES AND MONSTERS art with its historical realism, but hey, to each their own.

Why "Allah" in the first place? This is a fantasy game and that is a real life God. Why even go their? As a christian I don't want to play with things referencing to Allah, its borderline breaking the first commandment. Things like this make me question if I want to play the game or not. Its one thing to make up a fantasy "god" for a game, but another to actually reference a major religion. I am not a Muslim but I bet Muslims would not want them putting Allah on a magic card as well. I would be extremely offended if they printed something like this but a reference to Christ, and I would quit right there, allot of Christians would.
Point is, why would they even go their in the first place?

@ TheWrathOfShane Fun fact, Allah is literally just the Arabic word for god. Another fun fact, you're a whinging tool. HairlessThoctar has already explained the Allah thing you spamming idiot. If you really have so many problems with MtG using words that don't fit into your extremist worldview, then stop playing! And ESPECIALLY don't spam the comment sections. Don't think I didn't notice you posting the exact same comment across multiple Devil cards.

@thewrathofshane: There are plenty of references to Christianity wherever you go, from Jevovah's Witnesses knocking at your door to people giving out flyers in real life. In magic, there's plenty of churches and cathedrals (cathedral of war? The Orzhov guild is also a clear reference to Christianity) but you have to complain on the one card that references a different religion? And then you try to act all high and mighty about it, like you're doing other religions a favour?
Stop speaking for other people because you are the only person who ever complains on this card or devil cards. If you want to quit because you can't handle references to things that offend you and you're too close-minded and bigoted to accept other people's ways of living then don't just quit magic. Quit life, become a monk or something because real life is something you will never be able to handle.

The whole set was based around Middle Eastern precepts, beliefs, placenames and events/creatures with some fanciful ones added in. A slew of stuff from the Thousand and One Nights is in there too (Shahrazad is the most glaring example, she kept telling the Caliph stories so she wouldn't lose her life, that's a pretty rough bunch of stories but great stuff) so...why complain about it? Muslims refer to their creator as Allah, it's appropriate for THIS SET to have such a card. It's completely in flavour.
Also, it's a nice combat trick, I have it in my Thalia deck for a final push card.

Hey Mister Shane dude. Since you're so offended by a card that references somebody else's God, to the point of claiming it might be violating the 1st Commandment, I was wondering: Why don't you have any problem whatsoever with a card called "Murder" violating the 5th Commandment?
