It is the only 1/1 knight that I can find for my extended knight/ light from within/ coat of arms deck, so it get a 4 for that.

1/1 for 1 with Vigilance, which is nice, but expensive ability.

Expensive ability? let me fix that with my Holy Strength.

I like this card in my White Knights deck - yes the ability is expensive - but it only costs one mana to drop so I can have it out first turn if need be.

In drafts people used to pass this card all the time because of it's expensive ability completely overlooking the fact that it's a 1/1 Vigilance for one mana. I took advantage of that all the time.

If this was just a regular one drop with vigilance than people would actually think its not that bad. Any random buff would make it all the better. The very expensive rootwalla ability just makes people hate it and that is a bad design choice right there

This guy's kinda like John McCain except better 'cause he has a sword.

I think this card would be rated higher if not for the activated ability. I'd probably white-out the ability, and run auras instead. That way, I don't feel ripped off.

If you need 1 mana cost white knights you might also try Caravan Escort. It's not great, but it's not bad. It levels.
Student of Warfare is also a white knight for 1 and is very nice, but may be a lot harder to get.

Effective with two Training Grounds out? Anyway, I like the idea of a 1/1 with vigilance for 1.

In drafts people used to take this card all the time because it's a 1/1 Vigilance for one mana, not knowing 1/1 creatures still aren't the beatdown. I took advantage of that all the time.

He's a 1/1 vigilance for 1. The pump, expensive though it may be, just adds to its usefulness.

@Test-Subject_217601: I fully agree with you. I'm considering this guy for a Knight deck, cause really, he's a 1/1 with Vigilance for one mana, and if nothing else, his ability can be of use when you're out of cards.

Mystic Penitent is the only other 1 mana creature with vigilance. The ability is very weak, but it can be considered slightly better than the same creature without the ability, which is pretty good.

drafts: haha look at all these fools passing these mean guy to me, now he will rape their as*es
still one of the 3 1cmc knights, but the other ones kind of look better...
if nothing else it's a 1-drop, and maybe for knight tribal
That flavor text is excellent. "Hey punk, your friends are here to help you now, ARE THEY?!"

Oh, there is a creature attached to that flavor text. Um, neat white 1 drop with a decent ability.

It's a shame that such boss art and interesting concept were wasted on a mediocre card.

There is currently only one other 1/1 with Vigilance for 1 mana and that guy is an uncommon. ( Mystic Penitent )
A 1/1 for 1 is pretty much common place at this point. Tack on Vig and he's looking pretty good. The pump is very nice, but the expensive cost turns heads. Why should I spend 4W for +1/+2 when I can drop Gleam of Resistance which has the exact same cost, but is better all around? +1/+2 to itself is, at the most, worth 2W; even if that were the case for this card I have a suspicion people would still complain about it being to high of a price.
I say, ignore the self buff and look at the card again. A 1/1 for W with Vigilance and a relevant creature type that you can most certainly make good use of is a good card, even better so that it is sitting at a common slot. For that reason I am giving this card 4 stars. The pump should not turn heads and lower this guys score. The pump is not mandatory nor is it a draw back, so why rate this guy down because his pump, which you don't need to activate really ever, is over priced?

The pump is a fantastic option later on. Its a 1/1 vigilance for that gets buffed by Honor of the Pure.

Those of you that talk about how useless the second ability is or how "you just want to white it out and run auras" need to learn about mana dumps, card slots and card advantage.
First of all, aura decks are notoriously bad from a card advantage perspective. Creature removal is the most notorious of all removals (all colors have it in some fashion, most decks worth playing have it) and you're PUTTING MORE CARDS onto a creature. If you're running auras that give hexproof, then great. But what about late game? When you're out of cards in your hand, slowly drawing your deck, card by card, not getting a necessary buff for your guy to get through?
That's where this guy comes in. He buffs HIMSELF, no cards wasted. You don't need to draw anything else, you don't need to put any late game buffs in the deck because in the late game with an empty hand, you'll want something to use all that mana on. These are called mana dumps, and the idea behind them is the capability of making good use of your mana, even when you're empty handed. If you compare him to a shade, you will be disappointed. However, this guy comes out on the first turn, and NOBODY EVER wastes a spell on him, due to the seemingly terrible appeal of the second ability.
If you have Dawnglare Invoker in the deck, you've already got a great mana dump. If not... consider this guy.
