Enchantments will continue to enchant the confiscated permanent but control of it will not be affected. The same will apply to equipments.
For example, if you confiscate a creature that is enchanted with Holy Strength then the creature will remain enchanted and will continue to receive the bonus even though the control of the enchantment remains with your opponent, so he could still sacrifice the enchantment if he has the means to do so but can no longer sacrifice the creature.

Consider the more rare, but often superior card, Volition Reins. The heavier blue cost is a tad inconvenient, but having the creature untapped is really handy if you want to block with it, and having other permanents untapped means you can use them right now.
