On one hand the targeting is so specific that it's rather unwieldy. On the other hand, you're paying 2 mana to destroy something that likely cost far more than that to summon. Of course on a third hand, Legendary cards tend to have at least one form of defense... Antiblack, Shroud, Indestructibility, many of which could just as easily prevent this from happening. A change of wording would do this a lot of good, such as calling it a 'sacrifice' or at least preventing Regen as was stated earlier. It's a tough call. Great flavor though, a little creepy and sad. Not as creepy or sad as this third hand I've sprouted... Be back in a bit, I have a date with a hatchet.

This sucks compared to Doomblade... A common... Go for the Throat FAR outshines this, and it's an uncommon.

Anyway, this card is more useful than Ass-Whuppin.
The points raised above about how Legendary creatures tend to have protection from Doom-Blade effects effects is sound. I think if Wizards had the chance to ret-con some of their old cards, they would happily adopt this change. Even with this change, it would not be able to stop all the Legendary creatures, and Lightning Greaves would still exist for the rest of them.
Maybe change the casting cost to 1BB. Since anytime the word 'legendary' actually appears in rules text, it's going to be a card that is used primarily for EDH, the extra mana is not a terrible price to pay, and it would be less aggressively hateful against the lower-costing Generals.
Kryptnyt- Be reasonable. Doom Blade and Go for the Throat actually have pretty cool arts/texts. But this one is rather epic-looking, I'll admit. Looks like it came straight out of a major summer superhero movie. :)

Phantasmal image is usually much better. Sure, it's sorcery speed, but it also has other uses, and also it's in a color which has more trouble destroying things most of the time.
