Flying korlash. Okay this one came first, but Korlash has been the defining card for */* land counters and this one is just a tad to expensive. you're paying 6 mana for a 5/5-7/7 flyer which is never a bad deal. but these days we get creatures at such a discount. anything 5 mana or above better have a gamewinning ability.

Behold the Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Granted this card has been black's standard bearer for years, Korlash did outclass it, however I would rather play the Nightmare...

Look closely at Master's comment. Its not first letter capped! Someone hacked his account.

Congradulations MasterofEtherium, you have joined the rest of us here on planet Earth.
For the card, I think I like the old school black creatures the most, and this guy is one of em :).

Oh MasterOfEtherium, you just continue to amaze me. Be it with annoying comments or reasonably funny comments or comments that are actually normal, you are driving me BONKERS!!! Keep one comment style and stay with it!! (Preferably this one)

This card, on the other hand, is spectacular. The art is fantastic, and i really don't care if so many other cards are better than it, especially for it's cmc. This is iconic.

Don't worry. Master of Etherium isn't sick. He was just copy-pasting a newer version of the flavor text, one of his trademark moves.

I think it's funny how the flavor text so blatantly alludes to the card's ability.

I always thought this guy was just way too cute to be the bearer of such death and misfortune.
If his rage is proportional to the number of swamps, this must be what he looks like when someone double-dark rituals him out on turn 2.

Theo was actually relieved - if one of his nightmares had to come to life, he was glad it was the one about the flaming horse and not the one where he wet his pants in front of the whole school.

Great card, and by the time you could play it straight out with no acceleration, it could take out any ABU flyer except Lord of the Pit. Or a gargoyle with some untapped mountains.

I think the guy that did the art for carnival hellsteed was trying to pay homage to this card but messed up and made something horrific instead

This was always the drop that followed Sengir Vampire in Alpha mono-black decks. The variable power and toughness made it black's win condition next to Drain Life, and it was a feared card for a long time.
What has always puzzled me is its somewhat arbitrary mana cost. Personally I would have been fine if it cost or even , since it gets the most benefit out of decks running lots of swamps anyway. Using Sol Ring or Mana Vault to power it out would just leave it undersized for its price. Why make such an monocolor card so easy to splash?
