It might look more golden if its shiny. If this card wasn't terribly mediocre I would suggest that wizards reprint it with actual gold art work.

4/3 for 4 ain't bad. Not all that good, but red gets a vanilla 3/3 for that price and the other 3 colors don't do any better. With better art this would be worth a place as a green vanilla in the next core set.

Personally, looking at the stats and color, I'd give it a 4/5 when it came out and a 3/5 nowadays.

Normally, I hate cards like this. But how can you argue the bear power?

I gotta go. There's gold nearby.

5/5.

Bad art, WTF text box design, but I have a mana spam fast bear Green deck, and this is the biggest bear in it. I slap some armor on this dude (Magebane Armor, Darksteel Plate, whatever) and BOOM, armored mauler on the field. Fun times. And if you remove him before I am equip his armor, it just feeds my Bearscape. I love this card.

@achillesbow

You cant compare 2GreenGreen to 3Green.... Failure links, .5/5 rating to you.

As for this card, its vanilla. "Defines the curb" and sees some play in limited. Every block, including urza's and mirrodin have these trash limited cards. Weak cards don't define the curve, the strong ones do. Fail logic wizards.
