this is a great card to use in legacy when you know you will see affinity decks

great against equip decks who play artifacts hard and fast, answer back with a 5/3 trample and play ur green boosts to cripple your opponent.

I'd use this in my sideboard especially since over the years all the equip artifacts just keep growing

Well... this could have really been an answer to affinity in the day.

green soldiers with trample? This card wouldn't be out of place in planar chaos

one of my favorite cycles, the "hidden" cards are all reasonably powerful in multiplayer. Each color had enchantment creatures in this set, blue had Veiled, white had Opal, and black had Lurking. But red was left out of the fun for some reason.

rating is 3.5 when this was posted, this seems way to low for this imo.
You get a 5/3 solider with trample, the first time an opponent cast an artifact spell for {G}. In this new Mirrodin block thats not hard lol, I've gotten a turn one 5/3 trample several times...5/5 in casual

A 5/3 trampling body for a single mana is crazy good. Obvious problem is the premise that your opponent casts any artifacts though. You'll see many decks running artifacts in Legacy, but i just don't want a potentially dead card either.
Does this played in response to an artifact spell with Leyline of Anticipation on the field equal a 5/3 with flash and trample for a mere G?

Strictly worse than Hidden Gorillas.

@quiksotic Long story short, no. It triggers when the spell is cast, not when it resolves. That means that by the time you got to respond, the spell has, necessarily, already been cast. Flash does not help this card much at all, I'm afraid. Except against cascade, I guess, but even that's inconsistent.

Pity this doesn't trigger like Baloth Cage Trap, otherwise i'd gladly play this with Genesis Chamber.
