As I understand it trample doesn't work that way, I thought trample only "splashes" over damage that isn't used up when something is destroyed, where as fog bank doesn't take or recieve damage even when its used to block, therefore trample doesn't have any effect on it or you. The fog bank can be attacked, it simply doesn't take damage since its.. you know.. fog.

I wish rulings would go up so we can see if trample works on this or not.

Burn and removal kills this thing dead, so put a whispersilk cloak on it!
...on a patch of fog.
Equipment is dumb.

Foreverblocker! A card for your opponents to hate. Attacking with Darksteel Colossus? Oh look, it's fog time!
Edit: Oops, I forgot that the Colossus has trample. My mistake. Kalonian Behemoth, then.

For trample you must only assign lethal damage, not deal it. Comprehensive rule 702.17b. "...Once all those blocking creatures are assigned lethal damage, any remaining damage is assigned as its controller chooses among those blocking creatures and the player..."
Example: A 6/6 green creature with trample is blocked by a 2/2 creature with protection from green. The attacking creature’s controller must assign at least 2 damage to the blocker, even though that damage will be prevented by the blocker’s protection ability.

So, this thing does NOT prevent trample damage from going through to you, right? Just to get a clear yes/no answer.

Seems odd for this to have the type 'Wall'. What type is Hungry Mist currently?

My favorite wall of all time.
Yes direct damage can kill it and yes trample spills over the 2 toughness, but it only costs 2 and never goes away blocking , and has flying. Much better than it predecessors such as Wall of Shadows, Uncle Istvan, and Wall of Vapor.
I'm excited to see Guard Gomazoa in Rize of Eldrazi, costs a little more to get out but is a little tougher to kill with direct damage and stops a little more trample.

Fog Bank - confusing dinosaurs since '98.
It's a pretty good early drop, if anything it'll stop creatures for a few turns and if your opponent is frustrated by it enough they'll waste removal on it; sadly trample damage still goes through though. Guard Gomazoa outclasses it a bit, but for one less mana it's still a pain for your opponent to deal with.

The only ways to stop trample damage are: have enough toughness to cover it all, prevent it with an effect, or block it with a Band.

You're welcome, UW control decks.
