Without upkeep cost I still wouldn't play it. With the upkeep cost only good for a joke deck that makes you lose on purpose, but there are other cards for those kind of decks.

In the days of Homelands this was a playable card in a casual deck. It could kill just about any attacker, and in those days there was often unused mana lying about.

This would be a fine choice for a homelands constructed game. Today even without the upkeep cost wouldnt see play.
