So three turns after I play this I can get the effect of Giant Growth? Slow no?

Slow sure, but after 5 upkeeps you've got +5/+5 for G. If your deck doesn't go off until turn 5 or 6 anyways, then this is pretty nice. Throw in a couple Giant Growths, Brute Strengths, or Might of Old Krosas, and a Berserk on top and you've got a kill.

What if you splash Green in a control deck? Pretty effective finisher, no?

If they don't remove it, this card will easily win games.

Could be more useful now in {G} with the addtion of the proliferate mechanic from scars of mirrodin, as well as infect creatures which are much more effective when they get beefy +1/+1 counters on them, at instant speed nonetheless..

This card can be good in Infect decks that also include proliferate, which they should do. If you have this, proliferated up to nine counters, and attack with one more creature with Infect than they have blockers, even if they're all Glistener Elfs, it's gg.

Average rating of 2.250 right now is too low, imo. For a one mana investment you can force your opponent into some pretty tough decisions, esp if the game goes on long.

Cool flavor at any rate.

Cards off to the side gathering counters sometimes go unnoticed.

And now there is proliferate. I daresay if you get this down quick you may have a nice finisher by the time you want to swing for the win.

A crossover between this and Forced Adaption would make a fine card.

In other words, if this gave +1/+1 counters instead - which wouldn't be too much to ask considering this card's tempo - the disadvantage of this card's slowness would be outweighted by the power from this low mana investment over time.

(Not that this might be the case as is, but a permanent buff would make it a much more secure investment, since it wouldn't be wasted if your opponent destroys this after combat.)

Slow and not incredibly useful. Drop on turn 1, in 3 turns you have a giant growth your opponent can see coming. That said, YOUR OPPONENT SEES IT COMING, so if after a few turns they haven't destroyed this yet, they need to start playing around the fact that you could turn even a measly 1/1 into a 5/5. So, 3.5 out of 5 for that.
