Underrated, I think, because it's not consistent. Overall, not a bad card by any means, but if you're running five-color, there might be a few better options available to you if you're looking for a cheap bruiser.

If you are playing any kind of artifact and/or multicolour deck, you could do far worse than Suntouched Myr. If you have a five-colour deck, you will almost certainly have three colours of mana available, and a 3/3 for 3 is a decent value. The real strength is in the card's consistantly; a reliable 3/3 has a place in many decks. One of my favourite Myr.

this is such a good front line creature. easy enough to get out in turns 2-3 with 3/3 or 2/2 power, and can hold off alot of cards until you have enough mana to play higher power cards. you can also boost its power to a lovely 5/5 if you use fist of sun's, but ofcourse it will cost 5 mana instead.

As much as I appreciate sunburst as a concept, I don't like that he isn't any better than Nessian Courser or even Trained Armodon. Alara Block has showed us what you can get for three different kinds of mana: Rhox War Monk, Woolly Thoctar.
He wouldn't be overpowered if he got some ability to make him more worthwhile. As it is, my personal poster childs for good sunburst creatures stay Etched Oracle and Skyreach Manta.

If you play five-color, your better off playing dragonsoul knight or paragon of the amesha. not only are they first strike, but even in a five color deck, it may end up being 2/2 anyways. they also have those snazy WUBRG costing efects. 2/5

This card is terrible, limited nonsense. I first started back in mirrodin and I knew it was junk when my noob eyes first saw it. Why should a vanilla 3/3 for 3 have such difficult casting requirements?
If your running 3 color of any combination there are way better choices.

Yes, this is mostly for limited only, and yes a 3 color deck would most likely have much better choices, but for someone that claims to have played during Mirroden block, you are forgetting how many things cared about counters on cards. If you are playing a five color deck, regardless of what 3 colors you have on turn 3, you have a 3/3 (pending they are all unique colors, of course). The same isn't true for Wooly Thoctar, Rhox War Monk, or the Dragonsoul Knight.
Secondly, with effects like Doubling Season, this is a 6/6 for 3. I mean, we could list all day the virtues of of having +1/+1 counters on a guy.
Lastly, do you not remember affinity? There is a very good reason to run this 3 drop over a War monk. Plus all the other things in block that cared about artifacts (Shrapnel Blast)
Is it the best creature? No. Will someone use it in a constructed deck? It has a niche, but not a broad use, no. At least think a bit about the full use of the card before dismissing it as "junk". Maybe your "noob eyes" need a check up?
