Used to love 5 1/1s for 6. Also loved to pay this particular entwine cost.

use coat of arms and you have the option of 1 5/5 beast or 5 5/5 insects hmm...what to pick?

The difference between the choices for me would lie with Wail of the Nim..

Meh. Not really all that exciting. The best combo I can come up with is Charmbreaker Devils.

This entwined plus Echoing Courage = 20 damage. Plenty of other ways to get insect tokens too.

Used to prefer the five bugs to the 5/5 beast, but with Populate, that might have to change. One of the the biggest tokens you're going to find in uncommon, with a five weenie kicker.

5 1/1s is almost always a better deal. They multiblock anything the 5/5 can and are less likely to be chump blocked, though they're not as good at piercing defenses.
The main advantage is creature pump, though insects aren't really a supported tribe. Gaea's Anthem has a substantial effect on 5 1/1s and a minuscule effect on a 5/5. On the other hand, Rogue's Passage is far more useful on a 5/5.
Hm.

Entwine could've been cheaper. But I remember having quite respect for this card in my early days when playing against a friend that used an altered deck of the precon "Swarm & Slam" (which also utilized Echoing Courage to surprisingly great effect). Getting five tokens can be a huge deal, and with entwine this card has still some impact in the late game.
