Yeah, its power versus indestructibles is its main purpose, but it's still to pricey unless you expect to be facing a Darksteel Colossus. In which case, sideboard it.

Nope. Being instant means you can't compare them like that, although most of the time Revoke Existance IS better.

Clearly the altar does something, or they wouldn't have put the artifact on the altar. Considering that the levelers are such a huge threat to their society, the leonin surely have no room for pointless rituals.
