Play something like Ornithopter and still have the mana left over

Kind of defeats the purpose of having it in your deck as a CMC 2 for 2/2 flying if you have to cast a spell before hand (and unless your playing a tinker deck zeyette, ornithopter is not going to be in your deck.)

Playing Cloud of Faeries then the Condor on turn two is going to put some pressure on your opponent.

Card of the Week #3
Previous Card - Weatherseed Treefolk

First off, to everyone in the states, happy Martin Luther King Jr day. I hope you are doing something to commemorate the great and influential man. To everyone outside of the states, happy Monday, have fun at work or school or whatever it is you normally do on Mondays.

Second, this card. Ugh. Lets get this over with.

Alright, yeah there are good and clever ways to get this guy out without having to really care for that pesky restriction. I think all of them are a little much for a simple 2/2 flier. Especially in EDH where each of your multitude of opponents have 40 life. So I'm going to get this out of the way now: yes you can put it in blue braids EDH to get around its casting restrictions. No that is not a good reason to play either blue braids or Skyshroud Condor.

You can put this in Sygg, River Cutthroat, as it beats consistently in the air, but really, you have better cards to put in this.

This really only has a place in two EDH decks, and the first one only sort of, and the second one is actually two or more decks, its just that all of them are the same concept.

The first one is a Tibor and Lumia deck, which is a deck I really want to make one day. But this card wouldn't go in my Tibor and Lumia deck. It has a decently respectable position in a creature heavy Tibor and Lumia, play big reds and cheap blue flyers to swing above the enemy and snipe away at combatants trying to attack you. Or ping the opponent if you really want. However, I personally don't think that that is a very exciting way to abuse Tibor and Lumia, because the red trigger is way more fun. And the blue one is a nice utility when need be. So again, only if you feel like the creature heavy version of Tibor and Lunia does this sort of have a place, and frankly their are better cheap blue fliers.

The second deck is a flying beats deck. Yep, just get lots of swarming beating fliers, and beat. If you find that enjoyable, than go ahead. I say two or more, because you can basically pick any general with blue in it and then stuff it with fliers, but there are two generals I would recommend for said archetype: Aboshan, Cephalid Emperor and Kangee, Aerie Keeper.

Aboshan makes an excellent choice for the second ability. By turn six or later you've probably been beating and pumping out fliers like a boss (if you are doing it right in any case), so once you can use the Emperor's ability, its basically like saying, "I'm going to kill, um, one of you now." This deck is a very straight forward beat (which is quite refreshing in a very annoying color to be honest.) There are some cool buff cards you can throw in this deck: Sword of Paruns to boost the offensive, or keep your guys alive, Sunken City, Grand Architect and Gauntlet of Power all boost your host of mono blue creatures, Sprite Noble and Gravitational shift, are both fine ways to boost fliers. The rest of the deck is for lands and beating fliers.

Kangee, I actually prefer, but I'm a large fan of tribal, especially Merfolk and Birds. Door of Destinies, Brass Herald, and Konda's Banner all make good tribal (and color) boosts, the white Glorious anthems are welcome, Gravitational shift fits as do lots of cheap white and blue birdies, especially Thrummingbird. How great is it to both hit an opponent with a bird and increase the power and toughness of all other birds at your command. That would be a very satisfying attack.

Basically, in a really cheap flying beats deck with blue, this card works because its cheap and you likely also played something else that's very very cheap, and probably flying.

I think you wrote too much about this card, JosephColona.

Anyways, as for the card itself, I'd probably end up using Sapphire Leech more often than this guy. I guess that's my chunk of Johnny talking, but whatever, this condor only appeals to me because of the art.

Combos with Storm Crow. What else are you gonna cast for 2UU? Vaporous Djinn? I didn't think so!

I remember this card very well. Somewhat surrprised that it hasn't been reprinted. Seems like a fun premise. Functional reprints...?
