Art once again shows the Carpet flying without a rider. Which is at odds with how this card works. Really, it's not an Artifact Creature, it shouldn't be able to act on it's own.

Use it to pop a creature into the air and then shoot it down with something that targets only fliers. Like Femeref Archers.

It could be a 4/4 artifact creature if used with March of the Machines. Sadly though it would be: Flying Carpet {4} 4/4 .... without flying lol

i find it funny that the older revised flying carpet is rated better then the one were your creatures stay alive. Yes oracle makes them all the same but its funny did everyone want there stuff to die

This is a card that you HAVE to think outside the box for guys. Of course equipment is better. But this is a great card to put into a green deck with cards that "Destroy target creature with flying" or receive first strike against flyers. Equipment can't be used on the opposition, while flying carpet can.
Again, think outside the box.

The commenter above has the right idea with "you can target opponents' creatures" but is missing the most important part: this gives you an excuse to mainboard a full set of Earthbinds.

btw, did you notice that 6th Edition Oracle removed the disadvantage part with saccing this artifact when the creature becomes destroyed? i wonder whether wizards would change a card's Oracle like this ever again...
