This is probably one of the very, very few cards that actually has a form of instant discard.
If your opponent has no hand, and you have the life,
You can essentially keep them from ever getting a hand, and going for the win if you've got the board pressence.
I have to say, this is a very handy card.

Now who ever said life-gain is totally stupid, haven't seen this card
Play in a blue/white control with some life gain (via Spirit Link, Lifelink or otherwise then use this to lock down your opponent
Just be careful as this card can backfire on you as well if you are not careful
