As much as I love this card (and play it as a 3-of in my zombie deck), I have to say, it's high mana cost prevents it from being truly effective. Albeit it's probably right (5cc for a one sided Abyss? Can't complain...), cast it too early, suffer the consequences of having to sac. it due to lack of creatures in play. Cast too late, suffer the consequences of countering or destruction. Overall though, I still think it's playable, especially if you have a small control build (comboing in cards like Unliving Psychopath and Fleshbag Marauder to wipe your opponent's fields while you attack away with your Undead Warchiefs or Soulless Ones).

Obviously brutal in an all-zombie deck. Essentially everyone else will instantly hate you if you manage to get it out, even other black players that aren't playing zombies, which is what really pushes this card over the edge for me. Sometimes it can be hard to control black players because of the limits of removal spells, but this can work around it. Superb card, all around. 4.5/5.

@CXA26483, I disagree. I run an aggro zombie deck with 4 in it. I've noticed that I usually can reasonably get it out on turn 5 or six. Most of my creatures are low cost though. Maybe it's just my mana curve.
Also, black is the color with Dark Ritual, no reason not to take advantage of that if it comes into hand on turn three.

True story: Back in the day, I had this friend who played an all-zombie deck. He was sort of a douchebag, and in retrospect, he probably cheated a lot, given the crazy stuff he tended to "topdeck". One game, which I vividly recall to this day, he went first, started off like this: Swamp, Dark Ritual, Dark Ritual, Call to the Grave. Then he just looked at me with the smuggest expression. It was beautiful. I'll give you all a moment to think.
I hear he's a lawyer these days.
Anyway, good card. 4/5, because it's pretty brutal in a zombie deck, but can be dealt with fairly easily if you know what you're doing.
