An interesting ability, but with high costs.

extremely high cost.
and very restricted use.
there are enough other white creatures that can deal 3 or more damage to target attacking or blocking creature, including those with flying, without the ridiculous cost of three mana and a land to activate.

Might work for a threshold deck, but I'd still bring a Crucible of Worlds.

I like the concept. Just wish it was implimented a bit better.

Nice idea, horrible card.
Should cost 3 mana instead of 4, and 1 or 0 mana and tap to activate instead of 3 and tap. Not to mention the sac ability should be tied to the counters, so it could even be used when this guy is dead and the damage is dealt by the lands (going around most protection abilities). There is no reason why the mines shouldn't explode when the mine layer is gone.

What I think'd be more interesting would have been something like this:

{W}{W}: Put a trap counter on target land

Whenever a land with a trap counter on it goes to the graveyard, it deals 3 damage to it's owner

There you go, Armageddon.

I think it's very flavorful.
Not a great card, but its flavor is pretty cool.

They used to make so many cards like this. You could tell exactly what the designers were aiming for and you just cringe when you see the final product.

Most cards that involve sacrificing lands better be really good. I would have though that R&D learned that after they released the Prophecy expansion. Even with Crucible of Worlds a few sets later, this card is very underwhelming. What's worse, Trap Keeper does the damage himself, not the land, so targeting Black Knight or Order of the Ebon Hand aren't possible.

His unique ability would be a little more attractive if he wasn't so pricey. Nonetheless, direct damage in monowhite is interesting.

Sooooo... after all costs are tallied basically we get {6}{W}{W}, sac a land: Deal 3 damage to target attacking creature.

Ouch.

I'd prob put it in a janky mono-white group-hug EDH deck tho...
