I really wish Wizards hadn't changed the text of the card to "COUNTER target...". This spell would've at least had it uses if it were able to toss "uncounterable" creatures and sorceries into the graveyard. Unfortunately it's now just a horrible "Counterspell" and (as everyone else has been mentioning) a bad "Cancel". :(

Bwa ha ha ha. It's a good thing they errated the card. Playing a sorcery in response to anything is impossible. And silly.

What's interesting is that since they changed it to an Instant, counter-wars are impossible if playing Portal Block since there's no card available to counter Mystic Denial.

IMHO it is an error in the Oracle wording that this cannot counter other Mystic Denials, because that is strict diminishing of the original functionality.
