Back in the day, re-usable direct damage was good, slap lifelink on this and you negate the drawback entirely.

@deventio7: You could regard him as power creep variant of them, but this wouldn't be quite fair.
They're just two bros that like to play with fire,
while Spikeshot Elder is an ascended shaman of the Spikeshot Goblins. (Well, as far as goblins can ascend.)
