Best use i see in this is to set up other abilities that require the target to have received damage this turn.. but then Pyroclasm beats it there. It doesn't even function well as a defense against flyers due to the sorcery status.
I guess it's more of a way to make your creatures unblockable.

The best part of Winter's Blast is that it doesn't see much play, so it's something your opponent almost never anticipates. What's better than the Overrun you played earlier this turn? Getting your rampage through unblocked. The 2 damage to fliers isn't really the point, since the fliers you're worried about would survive it anyhow.

Just Random'd this card on the search. It seems pretty cool; green gets their own "Make Your Own Frost Breath" (minus the not untapping next turn clause, but still).

Why is this card being compared to pyroclasm? I'd be using it in combustion with a weenie deck to open up the flood gates for my boys and finish off an opponent.
