Aside from the creature type and rarity, straight upgrade to Seraph of Dawn, who was a high pick in AVR drafts.

This card just feels like a prerelease intro pack rare, doesn't it? Certainly powerful, it does scan as a bit dull. Still, I like the cleanness of the Heroic mechanic in white in Theros.

This was obviously designed with limited in mind, being the promo for white, but I could find use for it in my monowhite Soldiers deck. 2 more mana on a Leonin Skynight for lifelink, heroic, and +0/+2? Sure thing! Helps fill out the top of the mana curve.

More relevant in Constructed than Seraph of Dawn because of Heroic, but less relevant in Limited because it's a Rare (whereas Seraph was, somehow, a Common). Still, I think this card is totally sweet.

Having both Human and Soldier types makes this much more flexible that Seraph. Not saying Angel tribal isn't good, but Humans and Soldiers usually have more triggers to work with.

Yeah, for sure this is a limited star.
But even as a casual player, this card really is quite neat. It's a good mix of power and good design, because for me the in-built evasion and lifelink is a danger that should NOT be left alone, especially that is has heroic.
But therein lies the "good design" part, in that for it to really become a powerhouse, the player should design his deck in a particular way. So it's not just an "auto-win" rare.

And also, I gotta say that the flavor text is particularly bad-ass. You can only imagine that the gods of Theros are quite powerful and intimidating. But these guys? They're ready for some god-ass-kicking.

aka "the reason why everyone went white at the prerelease."

I don't like when you try to pigeon-hole me into playing 1 color at the prerelease, wizards. This makes me wish you discontinued promo cards at all.

How can you not know that flying and lifelink are amazing...beyond amazing in sealed. AND THIS IS THEROS TOO ARE YOU CRAZY?

I lost 2 rounds to this alone. Nothing else.

Top 5 stars card in limited and constructed.

I REALLY don't like that they print strictly better versions of Common creatures at higher rarities, in this case as with this opposed to Seraph of Dawn. It's still not as obnoxious as when they do it with removal, though, as in the case of Murder vs. Hero's Downfall.

It would have been EXTREMELY cool and flavorful if this card had a night side and a day side.

It's got flying and lifelink, which is always appealing to me. PLUS a solid 2/4 body at 4 CMC, and with heroic as well? Yes please!

This is wizards admitting that seraph of dawn shouldn't have been at common.
