This card shines brighter than Tusker does because this card can be obtained in a limited environment where it'll do more through devotion than a 3/3 in the core set will.

Would two Kalonian Tuskers in the same Standard format really have been so bad? Alternately, couldn't they have made this a functional reprint of Garruk's Companion, even though they would have to cut some of the admittedly good flavourtext?

There's really nothing wrong with this card. It's just a nice Limited creature that you'll never be too unhappy to throw in your deck. There really aren't many of those so even though it's strictly worse than Garruk's Companion, I'm still alright with it existing. And maybe one day I'll build a centaur tribal deck and have it battle my minotaur deck!

Nope. This ain't strictly worse than Kalonian Tusker or Garruk's Companion. This one has such a usable creature types. I just hope that there will be a good Centaur buffer in Into the Nyx.

This thing is fantastic in limited. I ran four of these and four Charging Badgers, along with four Aspect of Hydra. Along with Nessian Demalok, my boys simply wrecked at the draft.

Ran this in my Red Green Tribute deck at the pre-release. If your opponent stutters on his start, this just keeps hitting. Got two out at one point, one wearing evasive sandals. 20,17, 14, 8, Tricks, Dead.
Sure, Kalonian Tusker is better. But this is just a card that does what it's supposed to do, at Common. Straight into the devotion deck at 2-drop slot.
