I don't understand....Tempest Rares are not Reserved, but Mercadian Masques are?
Someone please give a clarifying de***ion of, rather than just 'the old worn out link to the Reserved list that NOBODY reads during Vault spoiler season XD' and actually say what the timeframe is supposed to be.....
because I know Urza Rares are Reserved and they came afterTempest o.o
Early Magic: A, B, U, Arabian Nights, Legends
Bad Magic: R, 4, 5, the Dark, Homelands, Fallen Empires, Chronicles
Vintage (minus P9 and a couple lands) Magic: 6, Tempest, Mirage, Urza, Mercadian Masques,
!!! And then either right before or right after Mercadian Masques, we got saddled with the Reserved List...it definitely covers from Tolarian Academy back to Black Lotus. Uncommons are up for grabs which is why we can still have Sol Ring and Demonic Tutor (silly Wizards making Mythic Rares with silver set symbols :3 )
But the point is...
Pre-Modern: 7, 8, Invasion, Odyssey, Onslaught <<-- these sets are the first that actually look like WoTC might not be ashamed of them, and are the place to find good 'Not Reserved' Rares that people might confuse as Reserved. Entomb! :D Vindicate! :D Storm! :D
But this still doesn't explain why Tempest, smack in the middle of the Reserved Era, is allowed to get Reprinted o.O
Did a whole bunch of cards get taken off the list at one point?

@Darth Parallax: From what I understand, only a certain number of rares from each set after Weatherlight were stuck on the reserved list. This, of course, wasn't among the reserved. Example A of reprinted Urza's Saga cards: Angelic Chorus.
