Even when they're dead minotaurs lack luster.

Bah. If you ask me, this and Undead Minotaur are pretty much keening "Minotaur Tribal in Theros", along with the new minotaurs in Dragon's Maze. And yes, I think Cyclopes are going to get the same treatment.

I wonder if there will also be Zombie tribal, though, again based on this and its more "elegant" kinsbovine. A reference to Hades or Iapetos?

Bonus points for the amusing flavour text.

I've been wanting a Minotaur tribe for awhile. And I don't care if this guy is overcosted. I like him. And the Undead Minotaur. Here's to hoping for Theros!

Well, it obviously sucks, is worse than a craw wurm. But if you are desperate in limited, I guess it can give you a late beater.

"... Who would let that kind of work flop about for all to see?" My dick-joke senses are tingling!

Rhuts rhat Raggy?
Didger-Idger-Doooooooooooooooooo!

(And by the old rules of "big creatures are hard to come by outside green", this creature's mana cost is just fine for a common. I happen to like this core set.)

So this is a bad card, don't get me wrong, but as far as m14 limited goes I actually think its solid, if not quite good.

Let me put it this way. This just about the biggest non-rare thing in the entire set. The only non-rare thing that can actually kill it 1-on-1 (ignoring things with deathtouch), is Woodborn Behemoth provided they have 8 or more lands.

He may be a bit boring, and not quite up to the power level we're used to, but he's easily the most efficiently costed common top end avaliable for this set.

Next, on the DeVanilla project, where we take overcosted vanilla cards, and inspire them with unique mechanics.

For Minotaur Abomination, I'd give:
Whenever Minotaur Abomination goes to the graveyard from play, you may exile it. If you do, search your hand, library and graveyard for up to two Undead Minotaur cards, and put them into the battlefield tapped.
